We believe that people living in the Murrindindi Shire are best-placed to know what projects will make the biggest difference in their communities. That’s why we invite applications from local community groups. As at 30 June 2021, we have awarded nearly $750,000 in grants to community groups across the Murrindindi Shire.
The impact of the funding we allocate to these community groups goes far beyond simply the item or activity funded.
For example, funding solar panels for a community facility actually helps to enable a sustainable future for a vital community meeting space. A cultural festival may be a fun event for attendees, but it also helps create positive connections between local residents – strengthening what’s called the ‘social fabric’ – in addition to bringing in visitors, which helps strengthen the economy.
