A free community event, “Community Health Expo”, was held on Monday 14 November 2016 at the Marysville Community Centre.

The event was funded by the Marysville and Triangle Community Foundation in partnership with Alexandra District Health. Evidence shows that healthy, fit and strong individuals are more likely to have a better recovery from natural disasters than those who are not healthy. Free health checks were provided, including blood pressure, blood sugar, mental health and well being, respiratory, heart health and skin spot checks. There was also an excellent series of talks about maintaining good health covering important topics such as women’s health, drug and alcohol concerns, mental health, parenting tips and healthy eating habits. It was a great opportunity to hear from experts in these areas and to hear their ‘top ten’ tips.
